Why use REMs?

Using rem (root em) units for typography, spacing, and layout allows your design to respect the user's browser-level text size preferences. If a visually impaired user sets their default browser font size to 24px, a site built purely with px will ignore this and remain illegibly small. A site built with rem will scale proportionally and remain accessible.
